book review / the wedding people

The Wedding PeopleThe Wedding People by Alison Espach
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

TW : infertility and suicide
The writing carried the novel for me and I think it could've taken another round at editing because it did lag in the middle too much. The ending was too neat and tidy but it was a clever story about someone who is at the end of a rope wanting to end it all (in a lush hotel) but then distracted by a wedding party that turns her life back to focus. It's def not a fluff book but a lesson in deep diving into one's life and realizing the potential there even when everything seems bleak. People can lift each other up to the surface and this was a good example of that. Lots of humor which helped in a heavy topic.
