the first of August and a trip wrap-up!

Dear Reader, I hope this first day of August finds you well and in good spirits. As a lover of summertime, I find August the sweetest month and also the swiftest one of the season. The heavy humid heat sets deeper in and the days linger, yet now with a touch of September softly, slowly beckoning with each sunset. When August arrives, it's as if I've just gotten used to summer being here for a long spell and find I hold fast to it before it escapes me. As I write to you this bright and sunny morning, all is well. The house is quiet and if I'm still, then I can hear the kitty purrs next to me. / / girls trip and currently reading / / My mom, grandmother and I took a long, 3 generations girls weekend trip to Fayetteville, North Carolina as it's a sentimental home away from home for us; my great grandparents lived there for many decades and I have fond memories there as a child. Many of the favorite haunts are long gone but we find fun whenever we go back. Ba

yarn & onion rings

A brand new year! 2017. Amazing, this time thing. I haven't posted here in too long. Anyone still reading? Drop me a note in the comments and let me know what you've been up to. I aim to be more regular on the blog again as I've missed blogging very much. For a New Year's Day cast on, I had picked the Cozy Shlanket MKAL design by Mina Philip, so on New Year's Eve, I scooted over the my LYS and picked out these lovelies: Brooklyn Tweed Shelter 'Worsted' in colorways (left to right): Fossil Postcard Homemade Jam I managed to complete Clue No 1 by midnight yesterday and I'm giddy over how it is working up. It was a rainy morning here so the picture doesn't show the yarn's beauty ... trust me ... swoonworthy! Clue No 2 released on Sunday, so I'm ready. Tonight we had burgers and I fixed oven baked onion rings to accompany the simple menu. They were very simple and very tasty. I'll surely make them again.

short stories

For some silly reason, I had convinced myself that I didn't like to read short stories. Perhaps because once I get fully into the short story , then it's over and I am left with wanting more. Perhaps because I struggled with writing short stories for a creative writing course in college. Ah yes, now I remember why I didn't like short stories! Well, that's all in the past. My interest in reading short story complications has launched with this book, Delicate Edible Birds and other Stories by Lauren Groff . I'm currently reading the second to last story and already know this will be a 5-star book for me. I can't say I have enjoyed every story as there were 2 that were, meh . However, the ones I loved, I loved intensely. If you read this one, let me know what you think!
