Dead-End Memories: Stories by Banana Yoshimoto
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Beautiful writing. Loved every short story within. Japanese translated fiction has an undertone of culture that other fiction just can't relate. Yoshimoto has a true writing gift. Her characters are quirky, real, flawed, unusual, complex yet simple - each story brings the reader a different woman's event, crisis, situation that is disected ever so carefully and by the end of each, the reader is beholden to her and the walking on into the after of said event. So good!!!
