book review : the drowning woman by robyn harding

The Drowning WomanThe Drowning Woman by Robyn Harding
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Such a gripping start! Les had a restaurant on the East Coast and then loses money when the pandemic hits; she borrows money she can't pay back and flees to the West Coast where the story opens - she's homeless and living in her car. She parks in good neighborhoods at night to avoid break-ins and one day she hearing a noise that leads her to save a drowning woman.

Very clever story but somewhere toward the reveal/end, it went off the rails for me. Book is split in parts to give POV but I wanted more from Les toward the end than was given. Overall very good but a bit disappointing. Great cover! This would work for a good movie.
