Everyone Here Is LyingEveryone Here Is Lying by Shari Lapena
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I really wanted to like this one more. I enjoyed most of it but then it became SO repetitive and ridiculous at the ending.

Avery is 9yrs old. She has a learning disability and is a troublemaker at school and at home. She is sent home from choir at school for acting up and instead of waiting on her brother to accompany her, per usual, she goes home alone. Her father goes home soon after the same time after his afternoon delight in a motel with a neighbor's wife who he has been having an affair. He's surprised to find Avery home; the two have words, he slaps her, and then the reader finds out she is missing.

The majority of the book is like a run around the neighborhood peeking into the neighbors' lives and detectives try to find out who took Avery. No one seems to be honest (thus the title) so it was a surprise with the reveal at the end but then it went off the rails further and ... 2 stars from me.

I do like Lapena's books so will surely read another of her thrillers but this newest one could've been so much better!!!!!!!
